New Moon Update 6-27-14
New Moon is Friday, June 27th at 2:08 AM MDT (mountain daylight time).
This is a good day to set some new intentions based on recent choices and changes. Make sure to honor and delete any old intentions that you set for yourself in the past that may or may not have come to fruition. Start with a clean slate, a blank canvas. Even if you have not manifested change in a way you can see, trust that things are different due to the movement of the month. Use this new moon to honor change, choice and new intentions.

Cancer New Moon
Sun and Moon in Cancer 5º
Friday, June 27, 2:08 AM Mountain Time
(8:08 AM Greenwich Time)
The season is full blown; the Sun has reached its highest point and its longest day (or the lowest/shortest in the Southern Hemisphere). Reigning over the summer is the Spirit of the South, the outer feminine, where we create a container, a basket to hold what we want to create and all we value. The South is the heartbeat; it is love, fertility, interconnection of all that is, family. Everyone and everything is held in this container of the heart.
Of the triple goddess archetypes ~ the maiden, the mother, the wise woman, New Moon in Cancer elucidates that aspect of the feminine that nourishes, seeks security, and creates a home – the Mother. Cancer fittingly rules the life-giving and nourishing breasts and stomach. Governed by the Moon, Cancer waxes and wanes in her moods because her watery, feeling nature is so receptive and sensitive to the shifting, invisible, but palpable currents of the emotional realms.
None of us has to be a ‘mother’ in order to have a gut level instinct about where home is for us. Whether home is a place or people, home is where feelings of belonging nourish our security, where we feel protected and able to regenerate. Out of knowing this foundational place in ourselves comes our ability to love others, to empathize, to feel deeply, be vulnerable and create true intimacy. When we become capable of loving, nourishing and taking care of ourselves, recognizing our most basic needs and fulfilling them is when we become capable of unconditionally giving another this same gift.
With both Sun and Moon in this watery, emotional sign watch for easily hurt feelings, touchy moods, and seeking emotional support from food as signs that your emotional needs are sending you direct messages in the language of the Moon. Water and water signs demand flow for well being. Tend your energy leaks and give emotional blocks expression to return your self to free flowing balance. On the other hand, you might feel so much gratitude for the blessings that fill your life that your cup runneth over and you have much to share in giving acceptance and support and care to others who are feeling parched or a little bruised in the wing.
Both Summer/Winter solstice and New Moon are times of beginning anew, resetting our intentions, germination and setting new goals for how we want our lives to unfold for the next cycle. If you want a higher game, go into your heart and be very clear about how you want your life to feel and look in the next season and until the next solstice. What is not yet clear in manifestation will benefit from your creating a container for Spirit to work through.
What support do we have at New Moon in Cancer?
The North and South Nodes are sending out strong signals. The North Node being where we are reaching and stretching ourselves to grow in new directions, where it’s uncomfortable because it’s unfamiliar, but compelling because it’s exciting and growth filled. Jupiter in Cancer 25º is exactly squaring the nodes. Jupiter invites us to expand our philosophies and beliefs that create our lives, and utilize faith in Spirit to embrace the feminine and receive our divine inheritance of joy and freedom. Growth and expansion is on the horizon despite the obvious backlash all around us of domination and control. Can you imagine if all the donkeys digging in their heels right now to preserve ‘the old’ were to let go and surrender to the evolution of consciousness towards more love and connectedness what an amazing dance could be created!
So much polarity is afoot. All the on-going Grand Square and T-Square formations we have experienced this spring are composed primarily of oppositions and have brought issues of polarity into hyper focus. We see it all over the globe. And let’s not forget, Eris, asteroid goddess of Strife who moves oh so slowly will be conjunct the south node in volatile Aries by late July (very close now). She is known for the pleasure she derives from stirring up discord and observing the resulting bad behavior. Perhaps we are witnessing the emptying of our past addiction to conflict by making it larger than life. ‘Darkest before the Dawn’ seems to be the movie on many channels right now.
As we move from New Moon to Full in mid July, Ceres, Vesta and Mars are joining together with the North Node to illuminate the dance of the masculine and feminine in all forms. The cosmos is bringing to crescendo an opportunity to accept and forgive the unforgivable and move toward balance in this alliance of feminine goddesses and the masculine Mars in the sign of balance, diplomatic harmony and cooperative relating ~ Libra. It’s an ongoing, collective theme of our times.
Yes, Mercury will appear to slow down in the sky and again move in a forward motion on July 1st, but not until July 15th will it be fully out of its ‘shadow phase’ and truly moving forward over new ground. As Mercury began its retrograde in the emotional, yin sign of Cancer 3º, this retrograde period has felt less like technological snafus and more like emotionally fuelled communication ensnarements that brought up old issues that needed updating. Cancer is notorious for relying on old habits for security sake. Go ahead reset your emotional dials. Show up, tell the truth and don’t be attached to the outcome.
