New Moon Update 7-26-14
The New Moon is Saturday, July 26 at 4:41 PM Mountain Daylight Time.
Take a break. Honor the still point of neutrality, that special time when anything is possible. It is the pinpoint of change and all it takes is a shift in your perception and an allowing of your desires and dreams to unfold in a way that supports your highest good. So if things are not right in your life, use this New Moon still point to make a permanent and significant shift.
There is a lot of expansion and movement potential in this New Moon. Don’t waste it by getting caught up in drama and negativity. Be grateful for what is working instead of worrying about what is not, especially in the lives of others.

Leo New Moon ~ Sun and Moon in Leo 3º
Saturday, July 26, 4:41 PM Mountain Time
(July 26, 10:41 PM Greenwich Time)
Get ready to let your Love Light Shine! The Sun and Moon are in Leo along with expansive Jupiter. Think the vibrancy and radiance of sunflowers: bold, strong, and abundant! With Jupiter freshly in Leo after a year in feminine Cancer, we get an infusion of the masculine, yang energy that fixed, fire sign Leo offers us. Leo is ruled by nothing less than the brightest, energy-producing body in our solar system – the Sun itself! The Sun imparts vitality, stamina, will power, and great stability and longevity to this powerful sign. Leo’s symbol the lion-The Royal King of Beasts reflects the central position confident Leo likes to hold where generosity, warmth and protection are available to the immediate circle. With rulership of the fifth house of the zodiac, Leo is about Creative Manifestation, Creative Self Expression. Leo rules the heart.
Placed in the center of our bodies, the source of our divine self-expression, our individuality, Leo calls us to radiate our unique expression of Spirit; no other being can express the Spirit you hold. So Leo says, ‘Why hold back’! Be all that you can be; have the courage (from le coeur-the heart) to give generously of your light, your heart, your love, your gifts. Where ever Leo expresses in your chart is where you are willing to show up and be seen in your full radiance and power. Leo has great magnetism – just think of the energy that holds the entire Solar System together. We welcome Spirit in when we use magnetic energy to draw to us what we want to manifest in our lives. Need I mention that Leo also rules our play, joy and pleasure ~ our lovers, children, the theater, all entertainments, performing, even politicians. Our expression of our en-joy-ment and abundance is a far more powerful expression of creativity than struggle and lack.
In our New Moon chart, Jupiter sits with the Sun and the Moon expanding our confidence, helping us integrate our experiences and see a bigger picture, and turning up our faith that everything is unfolding just perfectly. Let this cycle turn up your generosity, creativity and romance, but be mindful of extravagance, arrogance, and drama. Bombastic, egotistical behavior is not a blood relative of joyful self-expression.
Venus is opposite Pluto; Love and Power. These themes are seen twice in this New Moon chart: in the Venus/Pluto opposition in Cancer/Capricorn and in the conjunction of asteroid Eris, Goddess of Conflict and Strife, with the south Node in Aries. Bringing this theme into collective consciousness, I was recently very compelled by the reinterpretation of the Sleeping Beauty myth told from the point of view of the ‘wicked fairy’ or negative dark feminine in the film, “Maleficent”. Archetypal astrologers, Demetra George and Tony Howard have written articles examining the astrology and relevance of this tale of just what motivated the dark feminine to lay such a heavy curse on the innocent, light feminine child. Here is a link to Demetra George’s newsletter and Tony Howard’s astrological analysis of the film and it’s star, Angelina Jolie who made this film just after her surgeries and whose chart is intimately entwined with the archetypes of the winged goddesses.
Ultimately, it is the story of the feminine integrating and healing the dark and light sides of her nature after betrayal and usurping of power by the shadow side of the masculine ~ a fascinating and timely theme deserving of our attention and reflected in this New Moon chart.
On August 1, Venus in Cancer will form a fleeting Grand Water Trine with Saturn in Scorpio and Chiron in Pisces (17º). We have had repeated opportunities to dip into the well of emotional (water) healing (Chiron) and go deep to release and free up the energy locked in old unconscious psychological motivations not suitable for the higher frequency lives available to us (Saturn, our teacher, in Scorpio). The Universe is patient with our learning, but why waste an opportunity….
Mars is finally completing its retrograde period begun March 2, going direct in late May and now finally passing the degree it started from four months ago (27º Libra). It has spent the last eight months in Libra instead of its usual six weeks in a sign bringing a sense of balance, equality, and fairness to relationship through the masculine planet, Mars. Mars has focused his energies inward and his time in the temple has brought him more subtlety, awareness, and refinement in his interactions with others. But, a long retrograde period for the planet in charge of our masculine, action-oriented energies has brought a stalled energy to contend with coupled with other influences of the late spring and summer.
Now it is all systems forward; Saturn has also turned direct after retrograde motion practically on the same day as Mars in March.
So, coupled with Jupiter just beginning a year in risk-taking Leo. Leo says, ‘take that leap of faith’, follow your heart’s desire. Yes, think first, but then let Saturn’s organization and discipline focus this forward moving energy to create your heart’s desires that serve the good of all. Hopefully, all the inner work you have focused on this year will now be the foundation for bringing more power, love and energy into your life in this creative, forward-moving period. Leo is leadership, and a fixed sign means standing in the center and receiving all Spirit has ready to gift you so you can then open your hands and heart and share it with others.
August 2 is Lammas, midpoint of summer and fall.
Meteor shower Delta Aquarids biggest show for southern hemisphere peaks July 27.
