So many people are extremely concerned with the current events in the world at this time; the crisis of American governance, the bellicose saber-rattling of tyrants and dictators around the world, the pushback on immigration in so many nations, the rise of extremism in Germany, Italy, Hungary, Poland and the United States, genocide in Gaza, the invasion of Ukraine, the horrors of Ethiopia and Nigeria, the massive drug trade, the extreme polarization of means and the dominance of the 1% and on and on. There is a sense of overwhelm and helplessness about these enormous events that are everywhere these days. How can we prevent these events from running their course? How can we repair the damage? How can we clear out the individuals responsible for all these disasters and stop them from creating more? These are understandable and honorable questions asked by millions of people and if we look at history, we see that these questions have been asked again and again over the ages because all this has taken place repeatedly on this planet over what seems like a very long period of time.
The answer is not necessarily comforting to the ego/mind/body personality. There is no fixing all this.
“But…. But…. But, how can you say such a thing?” You may ask. “That is so negative.” Well no. It is not negative. It is just different from what you may have thought.
Think about it. Have you ever tried to fix someone like your boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wife, daughter, son, friend, boss, etc? Good luck! It is not possible to fix anyone. If they ask for healing we can support them in their healing process, perhaps. That is different from fixing. If you look back at history has it been possible to fix any of these types of world troubles? Has going to war ever fixed anything permanently? Has throwing large amounts of money at a problem solved it? No, in fact often it just makes the problem worse. It is fruitless. More often than not, the thing we are resisting just runs out of steam and changes into something else that includes new problems to fix. Have Nazis really gone away? Have tyrants disappeared? Has drug dealing vanished because we went to war with it? Have bullies gone the way of the buggy whip? No, no, no and no. The world has troubles. It always will. As long as there are bodies there will be pain, there will be discomforts and perhaps suffering because of certain physical conditions. That is the nature of the physical universe. As long as there is a sense of separation there will be problems.
Let’s look at this a bit closer. We create suffering because we seem to naturally resist being uncomfortable, and we seek to feel better, have a better experience. For example, think of what happens when you receive what you consider to be some bad news. You didn’t get into the program of your choice. Your friend had an accident and died or is in the hospital. Your good friends are divorcing or lost their pregnancy. What is the first thing out of your mouth? “Oh no!” This is automatic resistance to what is. “No, I don’t want to hear this. I don’t want this to be true. Maybe there is a mistake. It can’t be so.” We don’t want to feel loss, feel the pain our friend may be experiencing. We want to change reality or change the way we are feeling. We reach for a stiff drink, a pill, a joint, or watch a movie to distract ourselves from the pain. That resistance makes life harder in the long run, not easier. This is what we do when we hear another horror story about what such and such a president or czar did or who got bombed or blasted or whatever.
We prolong what we hate to feel, prolong what we hate to see or hear, reinforce the behavior of the ones we hate and wish vengeance upon by resisting. The resistance makes them worse. How can this be? It looks like those we hate / want to stop don’t really care what we think or feel. But the actual reality is that we are all one at the deepest level, so they do feel the attack subliminally and it hardens their ego’s resolve to have their way. Neutrality, compassion, understanding, and kindness actually disarms them at the subtlest levels and enough of it can alter their behavior in beneficial ways. At the end of the day, it does not matter. They will change their behavior anyway as they learn what they need to know. We have all been poorly behaved at some time or another. Punishment never taught us anything but rebellion. Experience and consequences brought upon ourselves is what taught us. It always does. If we are loved, the lessons are learned faster. If we are hated and learn to hate ourselves then we learn slower but we still learn.
To understand all this requires that we ask, “What is the physical universe for?” While there are many possible answers the one answer great spiritual teachers most often give is that it is for learning. We start out as one creator being, pretend to be separate so we can experience two-ness (duality), and then rediscover that we are one. This is the circular journey of the human being. Why? Well, because it provides us with a fascinating experience, a pretend journey, and a guaranteed joyful completion. We never actually went anywhere because we never left in the first place. There was nowhere to go. This is Dorothy’s metaphoric story in the Wizard of Oz, a profound tale of our human situation. Clicking our heels allows us to return anytime. Clicking our heels is simply remembering that we are not separate.
So, what about the great tidal cycles that come about periodically? According to the Mayans, the Ancient Toltecs, and the Hindus there are great cycles where humans go through ages of darkness, difficulty, and confusion and ages of light, awakening, and great awareness. These cycles have to do with the movement of our solar system as it travels around the galaxy swinging up and down on one of the arms of our Milky Way Galaxy. As or solar system travels upward over the horizon line of the galaxy we go into an age of light and as we dip below the horizon line we go into an age of darkness and confusion. We have just risen above the horizon on an upward swing and this indicates we are going into an age of clarity and understanding. So, whether we like it or not we are headed upwards and intense suffering and awfulness will no longer be sustainable for a long while. Right now, we are experiencing an intensification of the shadows built up over the last of the dark cycle in a kind of final explosion as they are released not unlike a boil of pus that has to be lanced. Hundreds of millions of people are going to wake up during this period. Will there still be suffering? Of course. It’s the physical plane we’re talking about here. But it will be lessened by a lot. Do you have to do anything to make this happen? Not really. Just live your life and it will happen in good time. No, you don’t have to earn it or be worthy of it. You are Spirit. Of course, you are worthy of it. This is the point of the parable of the prodigal son. You never actually went anywhere. Wizard of Oz, anyone? All is forgiven. It’s just a story, a narrative. We are not the news story on the smart phone screen. We are the screen itself, totally innocent of the ever-changing content.
So again, you may ask, “What can we do to help?” Not much from our body mind personality’s point of view. That’s pointless and ultimately hopeless. The frustration with being stymied at every step is extremely unpleasant. The only solution is to abandon the false personality as a place we call home, as our main identity and transfer loyalty to the Creator Spirit in us, something that is impossible to completely understand or grasp. “What? You are suggesting giving up the little control I have and rely on something that is impossible to know and cannot be recorded or measured by any device.” Yes, I’m afraid so. But I am not actually saying this. I am just passing this on by standing on the shoulders of giants, the great spiritual masters. That is what they always say; “Let go, let God.”
But what about the old saw that God helps those who help themselves? Well, this is not entirely accurate. God helps everyone because God is in everyone. Yes, even the person you hate the most. The most asleep, cruel, nasty selfish, narcissistic person on the planet, no exceptions. Shit, how disagreeable is that? Well it’s not disagreeable when you understand the game better. Each person has the creator Spirit within them. So, when we look at someone as a real creep they become creepier. When we bypass the costume and see the Creator Spirit in them then they become more like that. Well, maybe not as fast as we would like, but it does make a profound difference when many people join to do that. This is what is beginning to happen worldwide.
So, on the lower octave level we can do little if nothing to shift things. The world just goes on and we are carried along with its’ expressions. On the higher octave we are not distracted by our narratives and storylines and can align with the real power of the Creator within us. Ordinarily you and I can do nothing to actually change anything. We can make ourselves feel a little better by trying to be good and helpful but at the end of the day it is fruitless. If we align with the Creator Spirit in us then anything is possible. Then it is not our little selves that are accomplishing anything of actual importance, it is All That Is working through us that can express itself in new and extraordinary ways. We, the human race, are now at the cusp of actualizing this, realizing this. There is no formula for getting this to happen. We just have to trust that it is possible and that we are somehow ready and go about our business.
Who is this we really? Well, All That Is flowing through humanity is the we. Certainly not this shrink-wrapped body with a name tag attached and memories of a virtual past. That is not we, it is a hallucinated me, and it is no more powerful than a cartoon figure. So, the only solution is to just be yourself and enjoy the ride. Yourself is a drop of all that is. If you don’t resist what seems to be happening and you see it for what it is, a very real feeling cartoon, you can be more neutral and even get a chuckle out of it. When you are chuckling then you are at your most powerful. You are on your way to realizing that nothing is actually and really happening. When you realize there is nowhere to go then you get access to All That Is, but not before. As long as you are buying into the belief that what appears to be happening is real and there is somewhere to go, you are out of gas. Hard to believe isn’t it?
