The theme for June is “Awareness and a Need for Balance”

Let’s start with Awareness. Everyone is dealing with something, and the somethings are all over the map. Overwhelm, exhaustion, illness, relationship issues, disappointments, regrets, lethargy, depression, anxiety, uncertainty, discouragement, ambivalence, irritation, impatience, confusion, fear, and general discomfort around personal and collective situations as well as others not mentioned are all part of this field of “somethings”. Almost everything has an emotional component to it and becoming truthfully aware and responsible for self is a major step to healing, realigning, and moving forward.

Awareness brings you into present time as most anxiety is about the future which has not happened yet; and most regret, disappointment and discouragement is related to the past. Once you become aware of wherever you are in your physical, emotional and mental state, you can then move towards more clarity around what is out of balance. Taking responsibility for your own process is the first and key step towards healing and reaching a new sense of balance in your life.

Let’s talk about balance. What do you need? Balance is different things to different people. Some need more connection and social time, some need more alone time, some need more clarity, some more sleep, and some more physical activity, and some more creative expression, and some to release and let go of unnecessary burdens; physical, emotional and mental. Moving towards balance requires becoming aware of what you have too much of, what you don’t have enough of, where your container is leaky, where it’s too controlled, and what your physical body, emotional field and mental capacity are trying to communicate to you about what is needed.

We are often so externally focused that we ignore the importance of truly listening to what is really going on with us internally. Sometimes the first reaction is to look for something outside of ourselves to blame for our discomfort.  This approach will never bring healing or balance. June is not an easy month to navigate but who ever said it was going to be easy? The rewards are great if you commit to becoming more aware of your inner process and to allowing more balance and healing into your life. The attachment to a position of anything but neutrality is not helpful and will only cloud potential clarity around what is truly needed.

How to bring more balance into your life?

  • Admit to what is out of balance and take personal responsibility for it.
  • Eliminate and release any thoughts, beliefs, projections, blame, and any attitude that is keeping you hostage and awake at night.
  • Identify what it is you need for more balance, less of something, more of something.
  • Set an intention and make a commitment to making that change. Ask for help if you need it and trust in your support.
  • Look to nature to teach and inspire.
  • Be disciplined about staying present and in the moment of now.

How the month shows up:

YOU PERSONALLY

Pay attention to what is showing up in your life as it indicates where you need to focus. What are you feeling? What are you aware of? This is a month of self-discovery and personal growth if you allow it. Growth can be uncomfortable but very rewarding once you get through it. Some of the awareness may include looking at your boundaries. What have you allowed into your life, the good and the questionable, and what have you blocked, also the good and the questionable? It is a great month to look at your container to see if it is leaky, too big, too small, too crowded, too uninspired, too scattered, or just simply does not have enough energy.

It is a good month for a good cry. Cry for what has happened, cry for hasn’t happened, cry for your disappointments, cry for what you could not resolve, cry for what you yearn for, cry for the unexpected challenges you have had to face, cry for yourself, cry for others, cry for what you cannot change, just cry. Emotional cleansing is appropriate for where we are at this time and you may not even need to know exactly why you are crying or for what. Just intend that it will cleanse you at a deep level of necessary healing.

RELATIONSHIPS

The awareness this month should show you your part and engagement in the relationships you are navigating. Think of your container as inclusive of your relationships. Are there some that no longer belong? Are there those you have resisted for personal reasons? Are there those that you should let in despite your fear? Are there those that you are ambivalent about? Become more aware of how some relationships are meant to trigger certain lessons you need to learn. And become aware of those relationships that are actually in support of you rather than lumping them into the category of “those not to be trusted”.

Relationship issues are the core of all personal growth. If you have difficulty with someone, they are likely to be a teacher for you. Watch your projections onto others and be aware of what is being projected on to you. This is an excellent time to learn how to not take things personally unless you should because you actually are responsible. With all that said, this is a good month to nurture and deepen the relationships that are important to you and to welcome their support which you will always find in the most authentic connections.

HEALTH AND THE PHYSICAL BODY

The fire horse energy is alive and well, spurring us on to act, react, express, judge, choose and leap into the unknown without thinking it through or considering the consequences of our actions. This can cause an overheated liver which can, in turn, cause a variety of physical challenges including digestive issues, skin problems and fluctuations in energy levels. Anything you can do this month to move into a calmer state of acceptance as well cleansing your system through diet and practice is helpful as the cleansing is not only for the physical but for the emotional and energetic as well.

It is not encouraged to simply push through any sense of imbalance but rather to listen to the body, mind and spirit to sense what is actually needed in order to breakthrough to a higher level of well-being. Becoming aware of what your body needs, becoming aware of how your emotions can be supported, and striving for balance in order to heal what needs to be healed is the path of progress and evolution. Allow what you feel to guide your self-care.

BUSINESS PARTNERSHIPS AND PROJECTS

The awareness here is becoming more aware of what needs more support, what needs more balance, what needs to be released, changed or revised around business, projects and collaborative partnerships and efforts. Where have you been spinning your wheels? Where do you feel trapped, stuck or at a dead end? Where are you procrastinating doing what you know needs to be done? What is keeping you from starting something you have always wanted to do?

This is a month of many questions. When you question, you often receive answers in the form of either people or information or experiences showing up in your life. Take the clues seriously and have the courage to prune, reshape, reorganize how, where, and what you do in business, projects and connecting with the right people in your partnerships. Remember to bring balance into any structure you are reworking and practice awareness every step of the way.

This is not a month where you should be taking financial risks or engage in reckless spending. Think of sustainability, financial support, and what abundance actually means to you. If you can decrease financial debt in any way, bring an awareness to it that you are also decreasing other kinds of energetic and emotional debt.

ENVIRONMENT

For this month we suggest you practice more awareness of the environment; how it supports life, how it advises flexibility, what the natural cycles feel like and how you can match the balance of nature and the elements. Nature can be a teacher, prompting us to find a new rhythm that is more balanced and supportive of who we are.  A daily gratitude for the earth, the sun, water, fire and air will bring their energy in to support you. Becoming aware of the power of wind and water in a storm, and using that power as a source of support is being proactive.

In your personal environment, as usual, we always suggest continuing to clean, clear, release, repurpose, let go, refresh and re-do to keep things flowing. Become aware of the small tasks as representing something in your own life such as changing a light bulb represents bringing in light and clarity to something, dusting an object represents dusting off the cobwebs of your mind or energy field. In this way you stay present with everything that you do and become more aware of how everything is connected. This connection is a source of support and energy. Use it.

DATES AND TIME FRAMES

June 1-7

This is a time of emotional housekeeping. Nurture important personal relationships, especially your relationship to yourself. What is lacking? Bring compassion and forgiveness into any situation that has been difficult or compromising while at the same time setting good emotional boundaries. Spend time with family and what you consider home, security and comfort. Use awareness to reflect on what you need to bring more balance into your life.

This time frame is also the one that supports a good cry. Use it as an emotional clearing and release. You may also feel a restlessness around certain situations that feel on the edge of conflict due to varied beliefs and self-expressions. Engage in curiosity and appreciate the diversity around you instead of being in resistance or fear of things different.

June 8-14

This is a good week to anchor ideas from sudden insights and clarity based on your awareness of what you need. It is a time of personal growth focused on bringing more balance to your life. What do you need to let go of that has been a burden? This is also a time to step out of your cocoon and engage more socially with loved ones and community. You may crave more connectivity, attention and self- expression.

This is not an introverted time even if certain relationships or situations bring awareness to how you engage with others. There is always emotional support. Be discerning about the people in your life as you navigate awareness, especially around partnerships, business and projects. Think before you leap and practice balance between what wants to happen in the moment and what goals need long term sustainability. It is also important to be inspired and in a state of higher vibration if you can be.

June 14: The Nature Solo Retreat begins!

June 15-22

This time frame supports a close look at your self-esteem and awareness around self-worth. This is also the height of the season with the solstice occurring on the 20th. Emotions may be triggered but so can a true sense of well-being, expansion and support. The focus is to become more aware of what it is to live from the inside out instead of from the outside in. Living from the inside out is living from your own emotional truth, desires and self-confidence. Living from the outside in is to live imprinted by outside expectations, judgments and the concern around what others may think.

Some of these patterns may be difficult to change and certainly will not change overnight. The awareness is the most important thing as well as any commitment to change over time. Personal growth around self-worth and self-esteem will set the foundation for living from the inside out.

June 20: Solstice (Summer in the northern hemisphere and Winter in the Southern Hemisphere) is on Saturday, June 20 at 8:22PM Mountain Daylight Time.

It is always good to honor this powerful time and change of season with a ritual of gratitude, intention, and a closing of one chapter to begin a new one. We move from Gemini into Cancer at this time, from Air to Water with a focus on home, family, support, comfort and strong loving relationships.

June 23-30

As we near the end of the month, huge shifts are possible in areas of life that need it. It is an expansive time that should be used wisely in shaping your long-term sustainable goals and intentions. This last part of the month is also focused on home, family, security, and all the nurturing aspects of life. You are still working with emotional awareness and the need for balance however that balance will be more around what feeds you rather than what you need to eliminate.

Be prepared for possible intensity in events and changes around you, and, if there is drama, be aware of your part in it.

Lena Stevens


Lena is an internationally known teacher and shamanic practitioner. She apprenticed for 10 years with a Huichol Shaman from Mexico and has studied cross cultural shamanic healing from many traditions including the Amazon basin, Native American, Northern European and Siberian. Lena has taught and worked with individuals, groups, businesses and communities for the past 25 years, helping to bring shamanic nature based wisdom back into people’s lives. One of her specialities is the woven song tradition of the Shipibo tribe in the Peruvian Amazon, the singing of Icaros or healing songs. The individual healing work with these energy patterns through song and other shamanic techniques has had a powerful impact on her clients. Lena is the co-author of the “Secrets of Shamanism, How to Tap the Spirit Power Within” and a contributor to “The Power Path”. Along with husband and partner Jose, she is the co-founder and one of the primary instructors of Power Path Seminars and the School of Shamanism.
