Many of you have shown interest in the Trends talk reference to a special five-year cycle of change that begins in 2023 or, in other words, this year. Not being an astrologer, I cannot speak in those terms about the next five years so I will use my own way of describing the cycle which can best be characterized as change, change, and more change. As we pointed out in the Trends talk, 2023 is a year dedicated to cleaning up all the of the emotional and energetic detritus that has been brought to the surface by the big challenges we have faced in recent times, including the covid pandemic, wrenching political polarization, flirtations with fascism, climate change, with accompanying catastrophic weather including flooding and fires; and the list goes on. However not only is 2023 a year of cleaning but it continues with the dramatic changes required by our world at this time.
We can liken 2023 to the dramatic crack when an avalanche first begins to rush down the mountain often precipitated by an earthquake. Avalanches don’t just happen anytime but are responses to a great number of prior events that make them predictable. Perhaps there has been a massive accumulation of snow in the heights and in addition there has been alternating extreme cold with warm spells loosening the snowpack. Then there may come an earthquake that sets everything loose and everyone present knows something is happening. In the first few moments or first stages of an earthquake when everything is obviously no longer stable, coming changes are initiated. It is not as if change is new, it is just a new level of change that gets everyone’s attention.
As the avalanche rushes down the mountain its impact increases dramatically and this would be the next four years after 2023. Eventually the avalanche is complete and everyone looks around at a changed landscape and begins to adjust, pick up the pieces, and assess what needs to be done next. Of course, there are many tremors and aftershocks that continue for a while and people need to be mindful of them. The playing field has been changed for good. As people look around, they will be aggrieved about some of the changes, perhaps the loss of life or trees or homes. However, in other ways the landscape may have changed for the better. That ugly old quarry has been covered up and new vistas opened by the avalanche’s path. As always it is a mixed picture for the personality but for essence it just is what it is without judgment, interpretation, or evaluation. The personality says, “Oh my God!” while holding its head in disbelief and perhaps horror. Essence says quietly, “Oh, is that so?”
What I can tell you is that this sequence of events that comes together to produce all this change is quite rare and occurs only very infrequently in our historical time frame. It is no accident that it occurs now in that it has been predicted for a very long time by the Mayans, the Toltecs and others. It is the change that kicks off a dramatic reordering of the world, the way we live, what our priorities are, where our values lie, what we will tolerate and so on. It is a reordering of life, a time of massive letting go of what has been the norm for thousands of years. What if it meant letting go of the addiction to violence as a way of life, to war, to weapons? What if it meant a complete re-understanding of what a healthy economy means and how it operates? What if it meant re-evaluating what it means to be healthy and how to stay that way? What if it means a completely new interpretation of what freedom means and what it looks like? What if it means a completely new understanding of race, gender identity, tribalism, ancestral blood lines, and what it means to be a human being? What if it means an entirely new understanding of what we consider reality to be and what the role of a human being is? What if it means an entirely new understanding of what Spirit or God is and how to not only connect with it, be at one with it, but how to let it express through us permanently?
This massive event has been called the return of the Christ energy, the Infinite Soul if you will, the second coming which is actually not the second coming but the coming of the Christ Force to the masses rather than through one or just a few individuals as in the past. This is the first time the human race has been ready for this event.
As usual the art world and creative cultural influencers like singers and musicians point the way to the future at this time of dramatic change. The main message is to break the rigid patterns of gender identity and expectations about how men and women are supposed to act, how we are supposed to look, race, gender, and age stereotypes be damned. The forces of rigidity including governments and fundamentalist religions will fight back and try to control or stop the avalanche but while making local gains will ultimately give way to vast changes. Try stopping an avalanche by holding up your hands and saying stop. In this case nature has the last word. It goes where it wants and if you stand in its way you will be flattened or you step aside and allow the avalanche its passage adjusting your own body to the changes wrought.
The next five years will determine the nature of changes that will take place over the next fifty to one hundred years. What this means is that the huge changes will be precipitated but not handled in the next five years. Where the rubber meets the road will be discerned after the avalanche has settled. That is where the real work begins. So don’t expect a picnic to be awaiting at the end of this five-year cycle or you may be sorely disappointed. It is only just a beginning jolt helping to lurch us onto a new path.
Let us look for a moment at the nature of the resistance that we are seeing and that we are likely to see more of. We could look out there at the world and perhaps easily identify villains and systems that are dug in trying to turn the clock back. These might be tyrants, political figures groping for power, religious leaders trying to sway their flocks to go back to medieval times, the uber rich trying to steer the world according to their own vision of what suits them, the corporate structure trying to preserve the models that make it possible to amass such wealth. Influencers and pundits who revel in spreading disinformation, hate, fear, and conspiracies. Hackers out to destroy the technological networks that support electrical power, water resources, and so on. Online con artists and criminals intent on stealing vast resources and leaving everyone else impoverished. Politicians and corporations ignoring and pretending that climate change is not happening so they can continue their profit-making ways. The list is long and you can add many more as you wish. There are some problems with the way we look at all these sources of resistance.
One is that if you identify the sources of resistance externally as being out there in the world you are creating a duality between you and the rest of the world. I am here and you are out there and you are the problem I am having. It is your fault. I blame you for the mess. This point of view allows you the gratification of feeling righteous but not much else.
This perception automatically turns you into a victim of the world. Victims have no power to change anything. Therefore, this is a dead-end destination with no hope. All you can do is complain and be miserable.
If you are an activist person then you may take some actions to combat the enemies who seem to be out there. You can try to educate other people as to who the problem people are. You can organize other people to take action by voting, protesting, striking etc. and you can participate in these activities yourself. You can pray for interventions that will help with the situation. These are just a few examples. While there may be some positive results from these activities, they are severely limited by the fact that they are fundamentally flawed by the stance you have taken and this weakens whatever power you have to act. In other words, they are actions taken by the ego personality who is acting apart from essence. Ego almost always acts apart from essence until it surrenders to essence, something it is loath to do.

You extend your sense of self, your understanding of where you believe your I Am’ness is located out into what appears to be the outer world that you usually consider to be “not me.” You embrace everything you see, perceive, and sense and regard it as an extension of your awareness, a seamless whole that is inclusive of all your sensations, perceptions, thoughts, ideas, and feelings with all the apparent foreign objects you sense around you. In order to accomplish this successfully you will need to give up the addiction of believing you are located exclusively within your body. You shift from body identification to identifying with your awareness of all that is. This might sound easy but it takes considerable practice to overcome the falsehood of body identification. However, once you do make progress a new possibility opens up. You, as pure awareness, means you don’t have to move your body to make changes in the world. There is nowhere to actually go because each of us is everywhere. Instead, change can be accomplished by changing your mind. Instead of seeing enemies external to you, you can begin to see them as they naturally are, expressions of Spirit who simply have the appearance of something your ego finds distasteful. All you have to do is intend that you will no longer be violent, hateful, resistant to change, bigoted, fearful and all those miserable things that were not making you happy. In other words, you own your projections and as a result the apparent world conditions begin to shift. Do not expect dramatic change at first. The results are like watching plants grow. If you sit in a chair and watch for growth obsessively you will be very frustrated. If you touch base with the plants in three or four days you will see they have grown and changed without you having to do much but water them.
Granted this is an enormous step that may require much more discussion but it is a step that can now be realized by hundreds of millions of people in the next few years. This is what will bring about the overall changes needed for the human species next act. Meanwhile wear your hardhat and gloves and pick up your broom. The debris will be flying but you can clean it up.
